Jack Coons
Jack Lewis Coons, 60, formerly of Red Boiling Springs, Tennessee passed away Friday June 9, 2023 in Darlington, South Carolina. A Celebration of Life service for Jack Lewis Coons will be
conducted Friday, July 14, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. from the chapel of Anderson & Son Funeral Home in Lafayette with Jack Honeycutt officiating. Interment will follow in the Leonard Cemetery.
Jack Lewis Coons was born August 22, 1962 in Lafayette, Tennessee to the late Carson and Goldie Bilbrey Coons, and departed this life June 9, 2023 at the age of 60 years, 9 months, & 18 days. He was preceded in death by his wife Carrie Ann, his parents, and his siblings, Joe Coons, Junior Coons, Irene Barnes, Angela Doss, and Jennie Daniel.
Shortly after high school, he enlisted in the US Army and was stationed at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. After the army in 1986, he met the love of his life, Carrie Ann, and eventually moved to Tallahassee, Florida to start a family. While there, he eventually became the co-owner of Body Builders Gym, Inc. of Tallahassee before later becoming a professional horse trainer. From an early age Jack loved horses, bodybuilding, cars, motorcycles, and anything that was loud and went fast. As a child he was always playing jokes and pranks on his siblings and was known to be a little mischievous, which carried over into adulthood. He was always a big kid at heart and liked the simple things in life. He had the ability to make anyone laugh. He never met a stranger, and very few conversations whether on the phone or in person ended without an “I love you”.
He is survived by: his son, Zachary of Tallahassee, Florida; his siblings, Alma Sliger Clark of Lafayette, Tennessee, Ona Cherry of Hartsville, Tennessee, Orell Coons (Linda) of Red Boiling Springs, Debbie Rockhill (David) of Indianapolis, Indiana, Roxie Sutton of Lafayette Tennessee, Tina Colter of Hartsville, and Ruby Parrish (Joe) of Hendersonville, as well as a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and extended family.
