Dr. Bonell McBroom, Jr., DDS, age 89 of Lafayette, TN passed away Thursday evening, August 3, 2023 at Macon Community Hospital in Lafayette, TN Funeral Services will be conducted Tuesday morning, August 8, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. from the chapel of Anderson & Son Funeral Home in Lafayette with Cameron Miller, Dr. Larry Key, & Derek McBroom officiating. Interment will follow in the Anderson & Son Memorial Park. Tom Cartwright, T.C. Cartwright, Josh Cartwright, Dr. Hal Roseman, Dr. Hanna Ilia, Paul Kirby & Ansel Burford served as honorary pallbearers. Derek McBroom, Otis Workman, Dr. Larry Key, DDS, Adam Milby, Dr. Terry Jackson, DDS & Chad McBroom served as pallbearers.
Dr. Bonell McBroom, Jr., DDS was born May 26, 1934 in Davidson, TN, the son born to the late Bonell McBroom, Sr. & Pansy Drake McBroom, and departed this life August 3, 2023 at the age of 89 years, 2 months, & 8 days. He married the love of his life, Wilma Goodman on April 25, 1964, she preceded him in death on August 14, 2010. In addition to his wife and parents, he was also preceded in death by brothers, Dr. William R McBroom, DDS & Donald E McBroom.
Dr. McBroom was graduated with his Doctorate of Dentistry from the University of Tennessee. He started his practice in Carthage from 1958-1973. He then moved to Lafayette and was the owner & operator of Dr. Bonell McBroom Dentistry from 1973-2008. He was an active member in the Lafayette Church of Christ where he served as song leader and taught Sunday School. He was also an active member of the HO Train Club.
Survivors include: son, Bonell McBroom, III & wife, Nancy of Nashville; daughter, Missie & husband, Tom Cartwright of Fairview; grandsons, T.C. & wife, Anna Cartwright & Josh Cartwright; great-grandchildren, Nessa & Emmy Cartwright; sister-in-law, Sandra McBroom; nephew, Derek & wife, Angela McBroom all of Mt. Juliet; niece, Jennifer & husband, Dr. Terry Jackson of Lebanon; associate, Dr. Larry & wife, Jenna Key of Carthage; dear friends, Otis & Katherine Workman & Gay Chamberlain all of Lafayette, two fur babies, Bandit & Snuggles, as well as many good friends & family.
