William Amons Sr


William “Billy” Charles Amons, Sr., age 81, passed away on July 29, 2023 surrounded by family at his home in Lafayette, Tennessee. He was born in Madison, Tennessee on March 6, 1942. He was proud to have served his country in the U.S. Army and to have been a Past Master for the Masonic Lodge.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lena Mae Craven Slabach and William Milton Amons; wife, Brenda Paulette Amons; sons, Herbert and Robert Amons; sister, Joyce LaVerne Locker; brother, Larry Wayne Amons; grandchild, Heather Cheree Vannasdale Reid; and great-grandchildren, Hailey Amons, Piper Joye Reid, and Kamden Dale Reid.

He is survived by his son, William Amons, Jr., Lafayette, TN; daughters, Angela (Tony) Amons Vannasdale, Red Boiling Springs, TN and Latini (Chris) Amons Smith, Oak Ridge, TN; sister, Rita (John) Amons Webb, Bucyrus, OH; half-sister, Deborah Hendrixson, Old Hickory, TN ; half-brother, Phillip (Rhonda) Amons, Portland, TN; grandchildren, Chris (Brittany) Pryor, Jr.; Benjamin (Miranda) Amons; Milton Amons; Danielle Bush; Arizona (Toni) Vannasdale; Senthia Chaffin Mahady; Savannah (Thomas) Chaffin Young; Jay Chaffin; and over 30 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 P.M., Saturday, August 5, 2023 from the Chapel of Sumner Funeral & Cremation Lakeside in Hendersonville with Brother Timothy Hardison officiating. Interment with military honors will follow services at Beech Cemetery. A Masonic Service will be held on Saturday at 12:00 P.M. prior to the funeral service. Visitation with the family will be on Thursday from 4:00 – 8:00 P.M., Friday from 2:00 – 8:00 P.M. and Saturday from 10:00 A.M. until time of service with all visitation held at Sumner Funeral & Cremation Lakeside.
