Junior Tigers defeat DeKalb County


The Macon County Junior High Tigers had their second home game of the season on Aug 15th against DeKalb County. They won a close contest 10-0.

With: 46 left in the first half Tiger quarterback Owen Pitts ran it in from one yard out for the score. Aiden Barlow added the two point conversion and at the break the Junior Tigers led 8-0.

Then with 4:17 left in the third quarter DeKalb County quarter back Preston Cantrell was sacked by Tiger defender Lane Oliver for a two-point safety. That’s all the scoring and your final was Macon 10 DeKalb 0.

For the game Pitts had one pass attempt and had seven rushing attempts for -16 yards and a touchdown. Barlow had ten rushes for 89 yards, Lane Oliver had five for one yard, and Ricky Mendez had three rushes for 42 yards.

Barlow led the way on defense with 6 tackles followed by Cooper East with five. Mendez had three and an interception while Oliver had three and the safety. Deacon Green had two, Cameron Davis had two, while Brody Janz, Matthew Brawner, Christian Mendoza, and Colton Clark each had one.

It was 8th Grade Night for the MCJHS Students. The 8th Grade Cheerleaders are Charidie Basham, Haleigh England, Dana Harper, Savannah Harrison, Abi Hewitt, Sarah Tuck, and Chanley WIx. Football players are: Cooper East, Cameron Davis, Matthew Brawner, Dakota Hackert, Michael Pelico, Emerson Hubbard, Lamoney Mosley, Hadyn Hasse, Owen Pitts, Roman Clark, Christian Mendoza, Braxton Boles, Aiden Barlow, Landon Link, Braiden Likens, Caleb Davis, Lane Oliver, Delton Dallas, Dayton Harwood, Bryson Gentry, Christian Sanchez, Carlos Pacheco, Angel Trejo, Axel Valencia, Trip Keen, Brody Doggett, Colton Clark, Aedan Hopson, Zvi Rotstein, Reuben Valdez, Jackson Hauskins, Parker Hewitt, and Dylan Stone

Next up for the Junior Tigers will be a big game on Aug 24th at Upperman. Kick-off is scheduled for 6:30 pm.
