Elmer Ober


Elmer James Ober, better known as just “Jim”, was born on August 17, 1950, in Kittanning Pennsylvania, and he departed this life for his Heavenly Home on August 18, 2023, at the age of seventy-three years and one day. Jim was preceded in death by his Parents, Elmer Lee Ober and Georgia Ida Philson Ober; Sisters, Valerie Brokus and Georgia Haught; and Brothers, Harry Ober and George Ober.

He served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged on January 25, 1972. Jim was saved and baptized as a young boy and was of the Methodist Belief. He married his best friend and dance partner, Christine Marie Black on December 26, 1992. They were blessed to spend over thirty years together. Jim was a welder for Jones Brothers Construction. He loved to spend time with his grandchildren, go camping, and also loved to dance and sing (Jim sounded just like Elvis).

He will be dearly missed by all that knew and loved him. Jim Ober is survived by; Wife, Christine Black Ober; Daughters, Mary Shubitowski and wife, Tammy; Kariann Willis; Sons, Terry Shubitowski and wife, April; Kevin Mortimer and wife, Sabrina. Eleven Grandchildren, three Great-Granddaughters, and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Mr. Jim Ober were conducted on Tuesday, August 22, 2023, from The Chapel of Alexander Funeral Home with Reverend Wyndom Wix officiating. Interment with Military Honors followed in The Eulia Cemetery.
