Mary Wheeley
Mary Driver Wheeley, age 80 of Lafayette, TN passed away Wednesday evening, August 23, 2023 at Macon Community Hospital in Lafayette, TN. Funeral Services will be conducted Saturday morning, August 26, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. from the chapel of Anderson & Son Funeral Home in Lafayette with Elder Jason Wheeley & Elder Shawn Shoulders officiating. Interment will follow in the Macon County Memorial Gardens. Rick Taylor, Jimmy Dallas, Matt Wyatt, Patrick Coley, Jeff Wheeley, Dean Lazarou, Ferrel Meador served as honorary pallbearers. Kenney Evetts, Steve Wheeley, Skip Massey, Andrew Wheeley, Aaron Wheeley, Matthew Wheeley, Cooper Dunn served as pallbearers.
Mary Evelyn Driver Wheeley was born June 9, 1943 in Lafayette, TN, born to the late Earl & Katherine West Driver and departed this life August 23, 2023 at the age of 80 years, 2 months, and 15 days. Mary grew up in the Galen Community in Macon County. She was saved on August 9, 1962 and joined Long Fork Missionary Baptist Church where she was a member their for 61 years. She married John Wheeley on December 22, 1962 and they shared 58 amazing years together. They had one daughter, Tammy Renee Wheeley and she married George “Chip” Gose on May 20, 1995. Mary became a MeMe on January 26, 2000 to her beloved grandson, Heath Thomas Gose. MeMe and Heath had many wonderful adventures.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, & friend. She was a dedicated employee for the Macon County school system for 45 years where she drove bus #21, and she drove the bus for the band, she also cooked at Macon County Jr. High School. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, John Landon Wheeley, her parents, Earl & Katherine Driver, sister, Shirley Gipson, Brother, Lewis Driver niece, Becky Steen.
Survivors include: Daughter & Son-in-law, Tammy Wheeley Gose & George “Chip” Gose, Jr., Grandson, Heath Thomas Gose all of Mt. Juliet, Brother, Jesse & Pam Driver of Maryland, Sister-in-law, Betty Driver, Nieces, Wanetta & Jimmy Dallas, Rita Driver all of Lafayette, many cousins, family members, and friends.
