Bulldogs lose to Jackson County 21-14

Just when we thought the Red Boiling Springs football team was getting around to winning some quality games the trip to Jackson County once again proved to be a stumbling block.

The Bulldogs just lacked the ability to close out this game. The Bulldogs had four chances to tie this contest but turnovers and mental mistakes cost RBS a chance to win.

The Bulldog scored seven points in the first quarter on a 22 yard pass by quarterback Aubry Link to wideout Joe Birdwell who made a great catch under double coverage. Birdwell made eight catches for the game including a diving catch near the 2 yard line to set up their second touchdown of this game.

Link has the ability to run or pass from the quarterback position and the record he holds for touchdowns in a career will stand in the records for a long time at Red Boiling Springs. Tyler Lancaster started this year at running back and he has responded very well by rushing for 152 yards with only one fumble that the Bulldogs recovered. Link and Lancaster have over three hundred yards between them this year. These two kids are the heart and soul of this team.

On the defensive side you can look no further than Dalton Dallas and the combo of Joe Birdwell and Damien Patterson and these stats back them up. They have 21 tackles between them in the Jackson County game and we will have their season totals in our next report.

The Bulldogs will be hosting Perry County this Friday night in Red Boiling Springs. The game should start at 7 pm.
