Bulldogs handle Perry County
The Red Boiling Springs High School football team made one of the greatest comebacks in school history as they took on the Perry County Vikings last Friday night.
The Bulldogs led this game 22-21 at halftime. Thanks to the combo of Aubry Link and Joe Birdwell, who connected for a 50 yard touchdown pass play on the second play from scrimmage to give the Bulldogs a 7-0 lead over the Vikings.
The Vikings came right back and scored a td and tie with 8:04 left in the first quarter. Perry County sported one of the largest teams to visit the Dog Pound in a long time as their offensive line averaged 236 lbs but they failed to account for the speed of the Bulldogs.
All year long we have been talking about the Link-Birdwell combo and with 4:50 left in the first quarter they connected again on a 45 yard touchdown pass to give the home team a 14-7 lead.
Perry County found pay-dirt on their next possession and once again we are all tied up at 14 each. On the Bulldogs following possession they scored on a 16 yard pass from Link to Dalton Dallas and a 22-21 lead belonged to the Bulldogs.
The Bulldogs came out of the dressing room ready to put some pressure on the Viking offense and three touchdowns later the Bulldogs sported a 42-21 lead that turned out to be the final score.
The Bulldogs scored on interception by defense back Aubry Link that covered 45 yards. Their second touchdown came on a 55 yard reverse run by Dalton Dallas that put the lights out for the Perry County Vikings.
Now some individual stats were Dalton Dallas five rushes for 85 yards and Damien Patterson six rushes for 54 yards. The Bulldogs converted three two point conversions and returned three kickoffs for 125 yards.
The Bulldogs are off this Friday but will return for the Watertown game on September 6th.
