The Macon County Junior High Tigers hosted a playoff game against the Avery Trace warriors last Saturday night at Pat Parker Field.

The Warriors opened the scoring in the first quarter with a defensive turnover returned for a touchdown and on their next possession scored on a long touchdown run. At the end of the first quarter the warriors led 14-0.

With 2:46 left in the half Cooper East had an 18 yard pick-six for the Tiger defense. The conversion was no good. Then with just 0:40 left in the half Pitts hit Brawner for a 40 yard Tiger pitch-and-catch. The conversion was no good and at the break Avery led 14-12.

In the final three minutes of the game Avery Trace scored following a turnover on downs by the Tigers inside their own 10 yard line. The conversion was good and the final was Avery Trace 22 Macon 12.

Thus ends the campaign of the 2023 MCJHS Tigers as Avery Trace will move on to play the winner of the Smith County versus York game to determine the conference champion.
