Two men have been charged with Solicitation of a Minor by Electronic Means following an undercover operation led by Macon County detectives.
James A. Tyler, age 37, of Manchester, Tennessee, was the first to be placed into police custody on October 21, 2023.
According to the affidavit of complaint filed by Detective Elliott Sandifer, law enforcement began investigating Mr. Tyler after he messaged an undercover Facebook account.
During the course of their conversations on Facebook messenger, Tyler was told he was speaking with a 14-year-old girl. Tyler asked the undercover if she was on birth control and did agree to meet at a park in Lafayette, TN, for a sexual act. He requested that the undercover show up with no underwear on.
After confirming he was on his way to the meeting, officers set up around the park.
They observed Mr. Tyler pull into the parking lot and get out and walk. Once he made his way back to his vehicle, officers moved in and placed him under arrest.
He was charged with one count of soliciting sexual exploitation of a minor. His bond was set at $7,000, and he is scheduled to appear in general sessions court on November 15, 2023.
The second man to be arrested involving the undercover Facebook account was 30-year-old Taylor Huey, of White House, Tennessee.
Huey began messaging the same undercover Facebook account, and was told he was speaking with a 14-year-old girl.
The conversation turned sexual, and Huey stated that the undercover’s parents would definitely not be able to know about him.
Mr. Huey detailed several sexual acts that he would do with the undercover and agreed to meeting. He also sent two nude photographs of himself showing his private parts, as well as two videos.
On October 24, 2023 he agreed to meet the undercover at a market in Lafayette, where he was met with Macon County law enforcement instead.
Huey was charged with four counts of soliciting sexual exploitation of a minor and one count of solicitation of a minor. His bond was set at $35,000, and he is scheduled to appear in general sessions court on November 15, 2023.
