Macon Junior High has season home opener
The Macon County Junior High Tigers and Tigerettes had their 2023-24 basketball season home opener in Lafayette on Nov 6th against Satterfield Middle School from Trousdale County.
The Junior Tigerettes jumped out to an early lead But Trousdale would tie the game 7-7 after the first period. Trousdale would hit a slump in the second period which let the Junior Tigerettes take a 14-7 lead into halftime.
The game was highly contested and Macon would have a six minute scoring drought at the end of the third and beginning of the fourth quarters which let Trousdale back into the game. The girls from Hartsville would cut the lead to four but no further. The Tigerettes go on to win 40-33.
Scoring for Macon was: Sarah Price 3, Keelyn Gregory 8, Savannah Keene 10, Grace Sircy 11, Abby Carter 4, and Annie Gammons 4.
Scoring for Trousdale was: Anna Scruggs 2, Oakley McCall 3, Caroline Eden 7, Madelline Wilson 1, Kaylee Dixon 14, and Emma Tillman 6.
The boys game was a highly contested one as well. Trousdale jumped out ta a 7-6 first quarter lead. The Junior Tigers would come back and take a 16-11 lead at halftime.
The Junior Yellow Jackets simply had a tough time scoring. Eight points in the third and two in the fourth was all they could muster as Macon pulls away late and get the victory 38-21.
Scoring for Macon was: Aiden Barlow 19, Cameron Davis 11, Caleb Davis 2, and Monny Mosely 6.
Scoring for Trousdale was: Cam Staff 8, Gavin McGuire 9, Brandon Brewer 2, and Braidon Pettit 2.
These kids will be back at home on Thursday Nov 16th against Mt Juliet. Tip-off for the first game is scheduled for 6 pm.
