A Murfreesboro man was arrested by Macon County law enforcement last week at Key Park for the solicitation of a minor during an undercover investigation.
According to the affidavit of complaint filed by Detective Elliot Sandifer, he began investigating 34-year-old Scott Gooden on November 17, 2023 when Mr. Gooden messaged an undercover Facebook account.
During the course of law enforcement’s conversation with Gooden, he was told he was speaking with a 14-year-old girl.
Despite that information, Gooden sent sexually explicit messages to the undercover and did agree to meet up for sexual acts with the undercover and her 14-year-old friend at Key Park in Lafayette.
Once Gooden pulled into the park’s parking lot, detectives approached and ordered him out of his vehicle.
Mr. Gooden did not comply with orders and officers had to physically pull him out of the vehicle. He also did not comply with orders to put his hands behind his back and was actively trying to break his cell phone.
A taser was deployed to gain control of Gooden’s hands so he could be put in handcuffs.
Mr. Gooden also had the odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his person and several empty bottles of whiskey were located in his vehicle.
It was discovered that Gooden was out on an order granting bail in Rutherford County, and is not to consume or possess alcohol.
He was taken into custody and charged with solicitation of a person under 18, driving under the influence, violation of condition of bond, resisting arrest and tampering with or fabricating evidence.
His bond was set at $18,500, and he is scheduled to appear in general sessions court on December 6, 2023.
Chronicle readers may recall the arrest of two other men we reported on in October 2023 that resulted from the same undercover Facebook account and investigations by the Macon County detectives.
