Newberry & Flynn Honored at TN Volunteer Awards Ceremony

The Governor’s Volunteer Stars Award Ceremony was held on Sunday, February 18, at Franklin Marriott Cool Springs in Franklin, Tennessee. 

Barry Newberry was recognized as an adult honoree of the 2023 Governor’s Volunteer Stars Award for his outstanding community leadership. In a letter to Barry, Governor Bill Lee said, “I commend your hard work and dedication that led to this achievement and recognize you for demonstrating good character, perseverance, and excellence. These values and qualities are admirable and will enable you to continue making extraordinary contributions to your community, state, and country. Congratulations on this well-earned accomplishment. Best wishes for your future endeavors.”

Ella Flynn was recognized as the youth honoree of the 2023 Governor’s Volunteer Stars Award for her outstanding community leadership. In a letter to Ella, Representative Kelly Keisling said, “We were very pleased to hear of your success and have no doubt that you will continue to serve your community. We appreciate your commitment to helping Macon County through your dedication to the 4-H program. You are an admirable example of what the “Volunteer State” has to offer…your commitment to this community does not go unnoticed. It’s obvious your hard word and determination have led you to this recognition.”

A House Joint Resolution was presented to both Barry Newberry and Ella Flynn commemorating them on their achievements.
