Derotha Fishburn

Ms. Derotha Driver Fishburn, age 94 of Lafayette passed away Sunday morning, February 18, 2024 at Knollwood Manor in Lafayette, TN.

Funeral Services will be conducted Wednesday afternoon, February 21 2024 at 1:00 p.m. from the chapel of Anderson & Son Funeral Home in Lafayette with Brother Dwight Dyer officiating. Interment followed in the Macon County Memorial Gardens. Kyson Kirby, Collin Morgan, Owen Sanders, Abby Sanders, Kaylee Kirby, Allye Morgan served as honorary pallbearers. Jeff Morgan, Kevin Kirby, Mike Shives, Rickey White, Marty Coley, Doug Bailey served as pallbearers.

Derotha Elizabeth Driver Fishburn was born at the beginning of the “Great Depression” on June 4th, 1929 in Allen County, Kentucky. She was born to the late Linzie and Ocie Blankenship Driver and departed this life February 18, 2024 at the age of 94 years, 8 months, and 14 days. She was welcomed by two brothers Horace Driver and Bethel Driver along with two sisters Ruby Driver Roark and Leona Driver Blankenship and later a little sister that passed away as a child Bessie Pearl Driver.

Derotha married the love of her life Billy Herald Fishburn on May 7, 1949. He preceded her in death on August 13, 2019. They shared 70 wonderful years together. Billy & Derotha raised tobacco, cut hay, and milked cows to provide for their little family. She would get up before 4 o’clock and go do her morning chores of milking the cows before the rest of the family was up. Then she would come in and fix breakfast and send the kids off to school. You would often find Derotha cooking, sewing on quilts and clothes or canning vegetables while they were at school.

If you were blessed to be able to come sit at her table you would often find meatloaf, cream potatoes, fresh corn, tomato and golden-brown cornbread. She loved her family and friends dearly. Derotha was a member of the Testament Primitive Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by, Husband, Billy Herald Fishburn, 2 Brothers, Horace Driver & Bethel Driver, Sisters, Ruby Roark, Leona Blankenship, & Bessie Pearl Driver.

Survivors include: Son, Jimmy Fishburn & Companion, Gayle Williams, Daughters, Pat (Everette) Wilburn, Margaret (James) Mahaney all of Lafayette, Grandchildren, Leah (Kevin) Kirby, Evette (Jeff) Morgan, Jenna Mahaney & Companion, Elizabeth Cothron, Great-Grandchildren, Allye Morgan, Collin Morgan, Kyson Kirby, Kaylee Kirby, Abby Sanders, and Owen Sanders & Special Friends, Pat & Doug Bailey.
