Tigerettes advance to Region Semi-Finals

The Macon County Tigerettes are advancing in the post-season tournament. They have advanced to the region semi-finals.

On Monday Feb 19 Macon played Station Camp in the District 9-3A consolation game for the number three or number four seed. The Tigerettes came out hot leading 17-15 after the first quarter. However the Lady Bisons would lead 28-19 at halftime. Station Camp would hold that lead at 41-33 after the third period enroute to a 60-48 win.

Scoring was: Laityn Kirby 9, Kaylee Slayton 9, Katie Jo Shockley 5, Kaydence Walrond 8, and Natalie Green 17. Sheridan Ellis and Chloe Solomon played but did not score.

With the loss the Tigerettes would play the Lady Panthers of Maplewood from District 10-3A at Maplewood on Friday Feb 23rd. This game was over early.

Macon led 19-4 after the first eight minutes and 38-11 at halftime. Coach Thompson started sprinkling in her bench in the second quarter as well and everyone on the roster played in the game. The Tigerettes would increase the lead to 58-15 after the third and win by a score of 73-20. Hopefully this will ignite the Tigerettes scoring moving forward.

Scoring was: Slayton 15, Laityn Kirby 11, Shockley 7, Walrond 15, Green 8, Vanessa Kirby 6, Arianna Jones 2, Allie Kate Austin 4, Valarie Kirby 3, and Olivia Harris 2. Solomon and Ellis played but did not score.

Four teams advanced to the Region 5 semi-finals and they are all from District 9-3A. #1 seed White House will face #3 seed Station Camp at 6 pm and #4 seed Macon will play #2 seed Portland at 7:30 pm on Monday Feb 26th.

This will be the third game that Macon will play against the Lady Panthers in the past 14 days. The winners of these two games will move to the Region 5-3A finals and earn a berth in the sub-state.
