DCS Worker Indicted for Aggravated Perjury

Forty-seven-year-old Sarah Ruth Wooten, of Lafayette, was indicted by the Macon County Jury during its October 2024 criminal court session.

Wooten, an employee of the Department of Children’s Services, was indicted on one count of aggravated perjury.

The sealed indictment reads as follows:

The Grand Jurors of Macon County, Tennessee, duly empanelled and sworn upon their oath present that Sarah Ruth Wooten on September 19, 2024 in Macon County, Tennessee, and before the finding of this indictment, with the intent to deceive, did unlawfully and intentionally make a false statement, under oath, during or in connection with an official proceeding, and the false statement was material, in violation of Tennessee Code Annotated 39-16-703, and against the peace and dignity of the State of Tennessee.

Wooten was arrested on October 11, 2024.

Her bond was set at $3,500 and she is scheduled to appear in court on October 31, 2024.
