Irate Woman Tased Twice in Courtroom
By Jessie Williams
Dena Loraine Pettry, age 35, was tased twice by law enforcement in a Macon County courtroom after becoming irate and threatening a judge.
According to the affidavit of complaint filed by Deputy Derrick Gann of the Macon County Sheriff’s Department, Pettry appeared in court on Friday, May 16, before Judge Greg Traylor and was asked to leave once he conducted his proceedings.
Pettry allegedly made threatening actions towards the judge as he was stepping off the bench, and she became very aggressive when officers attempted to get her to leave the courtroom.
Deputy Gann tried to place Ms. Pettry under arrest, but she resisted. Law enforcement had to tase her twice to gain control of Pettry and place her under arrest.
The report states that she continued to yell and scream at officers and court employees while being removed from the courtroom and escorted to jail booking for processing.
Pettry was charged with disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, assault on a first responder, criminal trespassing and retaliation of a past action.
Her bond was set at $15,000, and she is scheduled to appear in general sessions court on May 21, 2025.
