Three Charged with Sex Trafficking, Prostitution
By Jessie Williams
A female and two male subjects were arrested last Friday on prostitution charges following reports of a group of prowlers near a Haley St. residence.
According to the affidavit of complaints filed by Lafayette Police Department Sergeant Justin Bergdorff, he arrived on the scene and located a gray car sitting in the driveway of a property that appeared to be unoccupied.
The officer made contact with the driver, who was identified as 22-year-old Daniel Voccasmic-Camarillo, and asked him to step out of the vehicle.
Other officers on the scene noticed a small shed behind the house and, upon inspection, it appeared that someone may have been inside.
When officers opened the door, they discovered 21-year-old Maria Virginia and 26-year-old Rafael Sebastian inside.
Once both subjects exited the shed it was determined that Rafael lived at the residence.
After speaking with Maria, officers learned Rafael paid her $400 in exchange for sex.
The male suspect in the car, advised officers that he was friends with Maria.
Inside of the shed officers discovered a used condom and a bottle of lubricant.
Maria was charged with prostitution and trafficking for commercial sex. Her bond was set at $80,000.
Rafael was charged with prostitution. His bond was set at $7,000.
Daniel was charged with trafficking for a commercial sex act. His bond was set at $75,000.
The vehicle was towed due to not being registered.
All three subjects are scheduled to appear in general sessions court on October 8, 2025.
