Macon County May 5, 2026 Primary Election Results

The unofficial results of the county wide primaries have been recorded. The primary was on Tuesday May 5, 2026.

There were a total of 3,839 total votes cast which represents a 23.5% voter turnout (out of 16,328 registered voters). There were primaries for both the Republican and Democratic parties.

In the Republican primary:

County Mayor: Rick Shoulders 1,679 votes (45.8%), Steve Jones 1,048 (28.6%), Mark Gammons 715 (19.5%), and Ryan Craighead 217 (5.9%). There were seven write-in votes.

Commissioner District 1: Phillip Snow 265 (99.6%)

Commissioner District 2 (Vote for two) Maverick Hesson 308 (44.2&), Keith Newberry 211 (30.3%), Rod Garrison 75 (10.7%), Brian Pandorf 52 (7.5%), and Stacy Kendrick 50 (7.2%).

Commissioner District 6: Michael Slayton 189 (97.9%)

County Trustee: Kim Parks 3,037 (99.9%) one write-in vote

Sherriff: Joseph ‘Joey’ Wilburn 3,214 (98.3%) fifty-five write-in votes

Circuit Court Clerk: Rick Gann 3,156 (99.9%) three write-in votes

County Clerk: Beth Dotson Fryman 2,313 (97.9%) forty-nine write-in votes

Register of Deeds: Molly Jones Anderson 1,745 (48.5%), Lori Morgan Gregory 1,182 (32.8%), Kastonia Newberry Herron 671 (18.6%) one write-in vote

In the Democratic primary:

Commissioner District 8: Katherine Whatley Vincent 10 (100%)

Winners of these primary races will now move forward to the August general election where any independent candidate will be on the ballot.
