Lafayette Municipal Election Day This Thursday
The Lafayette Municipal Election will take place this Thursday, May 9, 2024, from 9 a.m. until 7 p.m. in the council chambers at City Hall.
City residents will elect a mayor and three city council members.
There was no early voting in this election, due to only enough candidates to fill each position, according to Macon County Administrator of Elections Barry Doss.
Lafayette Mayor Jerry Wilmore declined to seek another term.
The candidate for city mayor is Tony Day, and the three city council candidates are incumbents Roger Jones and Jason Phelps and newcomer Dale Hix.
Council members Mike Marshall, Steve Turner and David Kempf each have two more years in their terms.
As of Friday, May 3, there were 10 absentee votes and 21 property rights votes cast.
