30th Annual Makin Macon Fit, Sept. 7
Put on a pair of jogging shorts, lace up your favorite tennis shoes and head on out to the 30th annual Makin’ Macon Fit Family Fitness Festival on Saturday, September 7th, at Macon County Junior High School with festivities to kick off at 8 a.m.
This event is designed to benefit Macon County schools and promote an active and healthier lifestyle.
Events include: 5k, 3mi walk, 1mi walk, Gaga ball, aerobic dance, and kids events (obstacle course, bouncy houses, bike rodeo, fun run).
The school that has the most participants gets $500, second place gets $300. The teacher with the most participants gets a donation towards their class.
There are two $750 scholarships to be given out with proceeds – hosted by: Lafayette Rotary Club, Macon County Health Council, Macon Community Hospital, Macon County Coordinated School Health, Lafayette Interact Club, Lafayette Jr. Interact Club, UT Extension Office.
“Thank you to all the sponsors and volunteers over the years,” Meagan Bell said, “We decided to make this the last year as participation has slowly dwindled and there is so much going on anymore we were competing against other races, games, etc. Our local leagues work with us but out of town events are still going on and this year we wanted to go out with a bang.”
Just a reminder: the bike rodeo requires a helmet.
