The holiday season is here once again, and “Shop With A Cop”, spearheaded by the Macon County Sheriff’s Office, will bring Yuletide joy to several area children by helping out with Christmas gifts, from the heart.

Thanks to the hard work and huge community response effort, over 50 children will have a much brighter Christmas this year.

“It’s that time of the year again, when we host “Shop With A Cop”, and once again the response to help our children in Macon County has been unbelievable,”said Chief Deputy Kyle Petty, with the Macon County Sheriff’s Office. “This event is something that we have had a lot of success with, and there is only a couple of things that we’re going to change this year. Domino’s is donating pizzas, so we are going to feed the kids at Fairlane Elementary School, before we head over to Walmart for the “Shop With A Cop” event, which will be Thursday, December 5th. We are going to take all the kids that night, but this year we’re going to split them up into two groups and take one group at a time, so there won’t be so much confusion.”

“In the spirit of the season it is important to help one another, and all of us at the sheriff’s office really enjoy this,”continued Petty. “It is the generosity of the people in Macon County, that allows us to help these kids at Christmas.”

“We want to thank everyone in Macon County who has helped us this year with donations, including businesses, organizations or individuals,” said Petty. “The aisles of Walmart will come alive once again this year, with not only the children, but law enforcement officers and plenty of other volunteers.”

The true message of Christmas will live on, when we remember the simple story from long ago that tells of the birth into the world of the spirit of unconditional love.
