Lafayette Man Indicted for Rape of a Child

A Lafayette man, who was already behind bars for attachment and being a fugitive from justice, was indicted by the Macon County Grand Jury on February 3, 2025 for the rape of a child under the age of 13.

Thirty-year-old Dallas Chavez Ruiz, an inmate at the Macon County Jail, was named in a sealed indictment handed down by the Macon County Grand Jury during its February 2025 Criminal Court Session.

The sealed indictment reads as follows:

The grand jurors of Macon County, Tennessee, dually empaneled and sworn under their oath present that Dallas Chavez Ruiz, in Macon County, Tennessee, and before the finding of this indictment, did unlawfully and intentionally, knowingly or recklessly engage in unlawful, sexual penetration of a child more than (8) years of age but less than (13) years of age, in violation of Tennessee Code Annotated 39-13-522, and against the peace and dignity of the State of Tennessee.

Ruiz’s bond for the indictment charge was set at $200,000. He is scheduled to appear in court on February 14, 2025.
