Charlie Kirk Vigil Planned for Sept. 30 at Key Park
A Charlie Kirk Vigil will be held on September 30, 2025 at Key Park in Lafayette, Tennessee, from 6 – 7 p.m., with speakers: Abby Head, representing Turning Point USA Tennessee Tech Chapter; Macon County Sheriff Joey Wilburn; and Pastor Todd Austin, and singing by Trevor Swindle.
The lady behind this memorial event planned in Lafayette is Melanie Peterson Davis.
“I just kind of started planning this vigil and it has kind of snowballed, and I didn’t expect it too,” she said, as she explained that since making an online post seeking if anyone else in the community would be interested in attending, it is growing bigger than she expected.
“It was planned for the old courthouse on the square, but after making the online post, we decided that there was a possibility of having too many people around with the traffic going around the square, so Macon County Mayor Steve Jones and Lafayette City Mayor Tony Day helped us move the location to Key Park in Lafayette at the Pavilion Stage,” she added.
Charlie Kirk founded Turning Point USA when he was just 18, and through that work he gave voice to countless young people, pushing them to think, debate, and defend their convictions. His loss is felt by many who believed in the power of individual responsibility and tradition.
In Charlie’s life there were controversies, as in anyone’s; but what mattered was that he dared to speak – to speak loudly, unapologetically, for what he believed was right. That courage is something worth honoring and emulating. It is in hopes that this vigil will be a moment of unity for those who share his passion for faith, free speech, and the belief that America’s greatness is found in its founding principles, in strong families, and in courageous citizens.
Everyone come out and join us!
