On Friday, July 31st, Macon County police responded to reports of a possible DOA (Dead On Arrival) on Twins Lane in Lafayette, where they discovered the body of 35-year-old Larry Eugene Woodard.
“At that time we began treating the situation as a homicide,” said Macon County Sheriff Mark Gammons. “Macon County detectives and the TBI were called in to investigate the scene.”
While Gammons is unable to release the cause of death until an autopsy report is complete, he did acknowledge that members of the Tennessee Mobile Crime Lab assessed the scene and collected evidence.
“Throughout the weekend we conducted several interviews,” Gammons remarked. “There have been no arrests at this time, but we are continuing to follow up with suspects.”
Upon discovery, Woodard’s body was taken to Macon County General Hospital and was later moved to the Tennessee Crime Lab in Nashville.
