The Macon County Department of Education issued a news release Monday, September 21st, announcing that a Central Elementary School teacher has been suspended, pending a school board hearing, for “unprofessional conduct” under Tennessee Annotated School Law 49-5-51, which states the causes for which a teacher may be dismissed as: incompetence, neglect of duty, unprofessional conduct and insubordination. The release further states that the “closed board hearing” will determine whether any further proceedings might be needed and, due to confidentiality issues, no additional information can be communicated at this time.
