Macon Bank & Trust Salutes Local Veterans

All veterans well be honored on Saturday, November 7th, 2009 for their patriotism, service and sacrifice, at the annual Veterans Day Breakfast hosted by Macon Bank & Trust in the Sally Wells Building, located at the fairgrounds, here in Lafayette. “It must be very difficult to leave everything you know and love, with no assurance that you’ll return,” said Radford West, President and CEO of Macon Bank, “but that’s exactly what our soldiers have always done to provide us with the freedom that we have all come to cherish.”

The 8th annual event, which will serve a delicious breakfast to veterans and their spouses from 8:30 a.m. until 10:00 a.m., will also provide entertainment by a group of local young musicians, including Amy Shaw, Jason Ligon, Michael Horton and Zachary West, called the Inspired Quartet. They will be performing a medley of patriotic and gospel songs in commemoration of all those past and present soldiers who have served their country with dignity and pride. In addition, a small gift will also be presented to each veteran and spouse, with a drawing for door prizes at the conclusion of the meal.

“It’s our privilege to honor the veterans with this breakfast each year,” Radford stated, “saluting those brave men and women who have served their country as members of the armed services, including those today who wear the uniform of the active, reserve and National Guard forces.”

“This contribution of our patriotic interest is small in comparison to the freedom they have so diligently provided us with today, by dedicating their lives to protecting our wonderful country. This event also provides these brave individuals with a chance to get together with other war veterans, socialize and recount their relentless vigil that resulted in the life we are all privileged to enjoy today.”

“We couldn’t possibly provide this annual event recognizing our veterans,” Radford continued, “without the help of our dedicated employees here at Macon Bank & Trust, who are always happy to go that extra mile.”

“As always, it’s an honor to host this occasion, and all of us at the bank are looking forward to visiting with the veterans and their guests on Saturday morning, November 7th. Once again, we certainly appreciate the many sacrifices our soldiers have made through the years and my God continue to bless the United States of America.”
