A one-vehicle accident occurred on Highway 10 South around 3:00 p.m. on Sunday afternoon, December 13th, sending one to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

According to the crash report, Jeffery Lee Tome, Jr., who was behind the wheel of a red 1993 Jeep Cherokee, was traveling north on State Route 10 in Macon County. As he attempted to negotiate a curve on the wet roadway, he lost control and went into a spin. The vehicle crossed the highway and struck a rock embankment rear end first. After contact with the bluff, the Cherokee flipped once back onto the road and came to rest on it’s top in the northbound lane, temporarily stalling traffic.

Trooper Danny Fisher, of the THP, was the investigating officer, and was assisted by Deputies Michael Veatch and Mark Bartley. Charges are pending.

Those responding to the scene included the Macon County Sheriffs Department, the Lafayette Police Department, EMS and the Tennessee Highway Patrol.
