Mother of Three Arrested on Drug & Weapon Charges

Macon County Sheriffs Department Deputy Donnie Crawford assisted a Department of Children’s Services caseworker during a visit to the home of Wanda Winslett on Friday, April 9, where the mother of three was arrested and charged with possession of a Schedule VI drug (over one ounce), unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of drug paraphernalia.

During the visit to the home, located at 122 Annie Hollow Rd., an interview with Winslett’s children led to information that there was marijuana located inside the residence, in prescription pill bottles.

Deputy Crawford, accompanied by a Sheriffs Department drug dog, then discovered two pill bottles in plain view, one containing what appeared to be marijuana seeds and the other containing 25 marijuana cigarettes.

At that point, according to Crawford, he was also advised that a sawed-off shotgun was located inside a dresser drawer,

After advising Winslett of his findings, Winslett confirmed that the drugs belonged to her and her husband led Crawford to a plastic bag containing more marijuana in the couple’s bathroom.

More marijuana cigarettes and a smoking pipe were also found in Winslett’s bedroom contained in a box, inscribed with the word ‘Love.’

Winslett was booked into the Macon County Jail with a bond of $3,000. She is scheduled to appear in General Sessions Court on April 28, 2010.
