On Saturday night, April 17th, around 9:00 p.m., the Macon County Sheriffs Department responded to the scene of a possible stabbing at 1207 Siloam Church Road.

According to the officer’s report, upon arrival they entered the residence and found 28-year-old Christopher Whitson inside, with six stab wounds. After he was stabilized the EMS transported him to the heli pad in Westmoreland, where he was air lifted for medical treatment.

A search ensued and later that night, William Earl “Sweet” McGuire, age 29, of Lafayette, Tennessee, was arrested and charged with Aggravated Assault by Sheriff Mark Gammons.

McGuire had recently been arrested and released after making bail, for operating a meth lab 135 feet from Lafayette Elementary School, at his home located at 704 Maple Street, and was awaiting a court date, when this incident occurred. He is now being held without bond in the Macon County Jail, with a General Sessions Court date set for April 28th.

Sheriff Mark Gammons and Macon County Sheriffs Department Detective Anthony Warner were the investigating officers in this case.
