The annual celebration to commemorate the courage and faith of our founding fathers in their pursuit of liberty, Independence Day will be celebrated on Friday, July 2nd, on the lawn at the White House Assisted Living, here in Lafayette, with good food, music, fellowship and a beautiful fireworks display at dark.

The holiday extravaganza, under the direction of Linda Austin and Beverly Walker, will provide something truly wonderful, not only for the residents of the White House and Knollwood Manor, but also the folks here in Macon County and the surrounding area. The music will begin at 6:30 p.m. by the Lakeside Drive Band, with hamburgers, hot dogs and all the trimmings served from 7-8 p.m.

“We began this event several years ago, for the residents and their families,” Beverly Walker said on Friday afternoon, June 25th, “and it has grown into a huge community endeavor with the cooperation of the City of Lafayette, along with help from the Lafayette Fire Department and other volunteers.”

“We invite everyone in the community and the surrounding area to drop by, bring a lawn chair and enjoy the entertainment and the beautiful fireworks display beginning at dark. We also invite all the candidates, who are running for office this year, to come by, meet the voters, and remind everyone why we celebrate the 4th of July.”

“We were thrilled with the large turnout we had last year,” said Linda Austin, “and we appreciate the support that we have always gotten from the community. This is our way of saying thank you and we certainly look forward to seeing everyone again on Friday night, July 2nd.”

This event is sponsored by Knollwood Manor and The White House Assisted Living.
