2nd Annual Fall Funfest on the Square, Oct. 2nd

To celebrate the season, merchants on the Lafayette Square are extending an invitation to everyone to join them for the second annual Fall Funfest on the Square set for Saturday, October 2nd, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

During the afternoon event, a variety of fall-inspired activities are scheduled at no cost for children and adults, including storytelling, face painting, apple bobbing, photos with your favorite fall characters, musical entertainment, pumpkin painting, a Halloween costume contest and a walk through the spooky Haunted Hall.

Free balloons will also given away at Macon Bank & Trust and the Macon County Sheriffs Department will be displaying the D.A.R.E Paddy Wagon.

In the spirit of the season of giving, a total of $500 in cash will also be given away to present drawing winners and winners of the costume and pumpkin painting contests, and each of the local businesses participating the event will offer special Fall Funfest deals and discounts to consumers.

The pumpkin painting contest will take place at Citizens Bank on the square from noon until 2 p.m., with judging at 2 p.m. First, second and third place winners will be awarded.

Costume contest judging will take place at 2:30 p.m. on the courthouse lawn and storytelling will be held at McClard’s Gifts at 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Face painting will be provided by the Macon County Chronicle on the courthouse lawn along with complimentary photos that can be picked up at the Chronicle office the following week. Apple Bobbing will be held at Gibson’s Café and the Haunted Hall will be located inside North Central Security Systems. Each of the participating businesses will also have its own unique scarecrow on display!

Cash Drawings will be held at 11:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m., 1:30 p.m., 2:30 p.m. and 3 p.m. and entry forms will be located at each of the participating businesses. To enter, participants must visit each of the businesses listed on the form between Wednesday, Sept. 29 and Saturday, Oct. 2. Entry forms will be picked up from drop-boxes at the Fall Funfest event prior to each drawing time.

Participating businesses include the Macon County Chronicle, Johnson’s Jewelers, Cathy’s Flowers & Gifts, Linda’s Cakes & Catering, All About Sports, Indigo Blues, Macon Department Store, Gibson’s Café, Macon Bank & Trust, Citizens Bank, McClards Gifts, Traditions Fabric & Yarn, Bob Storm and North Central Security Systems.

Entertainers scheduled to perform include Randy East, Kim Marsh, Cherry Cole, Miles Gibson, Melanie Bowman, Dale Meadows, Marsha Briggie and Brenda Blankenship.

So mark your calendars for Fall Funfest on the Square on Saturday, October 2nd, and pack up the lawn chairs for an afternoon of family fun and fantastic discounts at your favorite local businesses!
