Macon County Veterans Day Parade Nov. 11th

The 2010 Macon County Veterans Day Parade will be held this Thursday, November 11th.  The Parade will kickoff at 11 a.m. from the County Courthouse with an opening ceremony, the Laying of the Veteran’s Day Wreath, and the playing of Taps.  The Parade will begin from the Courthouse immediately after the opening ceremony departing the Public Square via College Street (Hwy 10 South) to Hwy 52.

It will then turn west on Hwy 52 to Ellington Drive, turn right onto Ellington Drive and proceed to Church Street. The parade will then head East on Church Street and end at Key Park. Once at Key Park, there will be a closing ceremony/celebration with a guest speaker and entertainment followed by refreshments. Lineup for the floats and other entries will be down Main Street starting at the corner of Public Square. Parade lineup begins at 10 a.m. The theme for this year’s Parade is “Faces of Freedom.”

Wednesday, Nov. 10

9:30 a.m. -  LES Veterans Program at Lafayette Elem School (Meador Drive)

2 p.m. - Veterans Appreciation Program at the Palace Care and Rehab in RBS

Thursday, Nov. 11

11 a.m. - Veterans Day Ceremony/Parade: Opening Ceremony to be held at the Macon County Courthouse and the Veterans Day Parade starts immediately after Ceremony at the courthouse and ending at Key Park.  Lineup for the Parade is at 10 a.m. Veterans Day Celebration at Key Park starts immediately after parade ends at Key Park.

3:15 p.m. -  Flagpole Dedication to Veterans at Lafayette City Park (Days Road) (Eagle Scout Project)

4 p.m. - Macon Co. Sheriff’s Department Veterans Appreciation Program at the  Macon County Justice Center

Saturday, Nov. 13

7 p.m. - Veterans Tribute (I see America) at Westmoreland First Baptist Church with performance by Sandy Frazier Riggers
