The Lafayette Fire Department responded to a 10/72 structure fire at 9050 Highway 52 West, on Monday afternoon, December 6th, which heavily damaged a one story wood frame rental home owned by Steve Losh, of Westmoreland, with damages estimated at $60,000.

According to Deputy Chief David Cross, upon arrival around 12:30 p.m., 20 percent of the house was involved, but the blaze hadn’t broken through the back. “We quickly brought the fire under control,” said Cross, “and we confined it to the front right corner, however the home and contents sustained extensive damage.”

“We had 15 firefighters at the scene,” the Deputy Chief continued, “plus an engine, tanker and service truck. We used 2,700 gallons of water to extinguish the flames and no one was injured.”

Those responding to the scene included the Lafayette Fire Department, Macon County EMS, Macon County Sheriffs Department, Westmoreland Observer and the Macon County Chronicle.

Dale Stafford, of Westmoreland, was the renter.
