Update in November '10 Ward Lane Meth Bust

In November 2010, the Macon County Chronicle reported on the arrest of 20-year-old Ashley Elizabeth Taylor and her boyfriend 21-year-old Robert Alan Phillips Jr., after Macon County Sheriffs Department detectives discovered that the couple was manufacturing methamphetamine in their trailer, located at 818 Ward Lane.

At the time of their arrest, authorities were especially concerned about the safety of Taylor’s two children, a one-year-old and a three-year-old, that were living in the midst of the active meth lab.

Chronicle readers may remember that while executing the search warrant at 818 Ward Lane, authorities found additional information that a second meth manufacturing operation was located at 815 Ward Lane, the home across the street where Phillips’ father, Robert Alan Phillips Sr., resided.

While officers found three shake-and-bake meth labs at the father’s residence, he had fled the scene and was unable to be located until last week, when he was arrested by Macon County Sheriffs Department Detective Darrell Taylor.

Forty-eight-year-old Robert Phillips Sr., was charged with the promotion of methamphetamine manufacture on January 6, 2011. Bond was set at $50,000, and a General Sessions Court date has been scheduled for January 26.

The Chronicle has also been informed, by a family member, that the two children involved in the case were found to have no traces of methamphetamine in their systems.
