The Lafayette Fire Department was dispatched to a Horton Lane residential fire Wednesday morning, February 2nd, which destroyed the home of Trooper Johnny Farley, of the Tennessee Highway Patrol.According to Deputy Chief David Cross, who was in charge of the scene, upon arrival around 11 a.m. the two-story wood frame brick structure was fully involved, with the flames eventually consuming most of the 2300-square-foot dwelling. “We had 19 firemen at the scene and we utilized an engine, tanker and support truck,” said the Deputy Chief, “and no injuries were reported. We used over 10,600 gallons of water and the origin of the fire is undetermined.
Those responding to the scene included the Lafayette Fire Department, Macon County Sheriffs Department, Macon County EMS, and the Macon County Chronicle.
The department also responded to a kitchen fire at the 5231 Flippin Road home of Pam Whitlow, on Thursday, February 3rd and the firemen were able to contain the fire to that area.
