Life-long Macon County resident Lori Jones is excited to take on her new position as Macon County’s new Chamber of Commerce Coordinator.Appointed to the position on Friday, March 18th, during a Special Called Board Meeting, Jones was selected from amongst 22 applicants, filling the vacancy that opened up after the retirement of Lona Vinson.
According to Macon County Chamber of Commerce President Marcus Smith, Jones’ main role will be to represent the Chamber out in the field by visiting local businesses, and bringing in potential industry and jobs to the county.
“We are 100 percent excited to have Lori here,” he said. “This has been a long process for the Chamber and the Board, and we could not be happier that she will be representing Macon County.”
Many of our readers may have already met Lori, who has always been active in the community. In 2007 she was voted Mrs. Macon County, is the Activities Director for Macon County’s Relay for Life Program, participates as a celebrity waiter in the annual Macon County Education Foundation Celebrity Waiter Dinner and works closely with the Macon County Fair Board. Prior to being appointed to her new position with the county, she was employed as the Office Manager for Dr. Hunt’s medical practice.
“I love Macon County,” Lori said. “I can’t wait to show this place off!”
Lori is the wife of Chris Jones and the mother of two children: 19-year-old Kristen Oldham and 9-year-old Gabriel.
