Macon County Sheriff’s Department Detective Darrell Taylor was able to connect 18-year-old Christan Ashley Coots to a meth lab recently discovered on Dark Hollow Rd. thanks to as slip of paper left at the scene.

According to Detective Taylor’s report, he arrived at the scene of a possible meth lab and discovered two tote bags containing a Smart Water bottle filled with chemicals and flammable liquids, ammonia nitrate, lithium nitrate batteries, sea salt, several other components commonly used to produce methamphetamine and two receipts for some of the items found at the scene from Walmart and Walgreens in Lafayette.

With the time and date stamped on the receipts, Taylor was able to review video surveillance at each store, which revealed that Coots purchased the items.

Coots was apprehended on April 12th, charged with promotion of methamphetamine manufacture and booked into the Macon County Jail on $50,000 bond. She is scheduled to appear in General Sessions Court on April 27th.
