Two Arrested in $10,000 Clampit Hollow Theft


David Foster Carter, age 24, and Carlos Dale Spivey, age 26, were arrested on Tuesday, June 21st, for their involvement in the theft and sale of property from a residence on Clampit Hollow Road.

According to Macon County Sheriffs Department Detective Darrell Taylor, the property owner reported the theft of two vehicles, an aluminum boat and various tools including lawn mowers, tillers, an air compressor, welding equipment, a receiver hitch and a commercial loading ramp, from his property.

“I discovered that the two vehicles, a 1993 Oldsmobile and a 1996 Dodge Pickup Truck, the boat, commercial ramp and receiver hitch were sold by Mr. David Carter to Likens Scrap Yard,” Detective Taylor said.

After questioning Carter, Taylor learned that he had received the stolen property from Spivey, who was still in possession of the air compressor and welder from the Clampit Hollow property.

Spivey was arrested for burglary and theft of property. Carter was charged with theft of property. Both men are being held on $15,000 bond and are scheduled to appear in General Sessions Court on July 6th.
