Man Shoots Woman in Clay County

A Macon County woman remains in the Trauma Unit at Vanderbilt Medical Center this week, after a Clay County man shot her in the back on Saturday, July 23rd, near the Oak Grove Community in that county.

According to lead investigator, Chief Deputy Rick Lisi, of the Clay County Sheriffs Department, 52-year old Danny Lynn Ford, of Clay County, engaged in a verbal argument sometime before dark with Ms. Deborah K. Brandon, age 41, of the Jim Town Road, in Red Boiling Springs, concerning issues relating to her boyfriend, Bo Smith. The two confronted each other near the intersection of Crawford Road and McCormick Ridge Road (located in Red Boiling Springs, Clay County, Tennessee) and at some point in this confrontation, Mr. Ford went to his vehicle, obtained a Smith and Wesson model 638.38 special revolver, and shot toward the victim striking her in the back. Ms. Brandon was airlifted by helicopter to the medical center in Nashville.

Danny Ford has been charged with Reckless Assault with a Deadly Weapon and Reckless Endangerment with a Deadly Weapon and bond was set at $150,000, which he made that night. A court date has been set for Friday, July 29th, in General Sessions Court in Clay County.
