A Macon County man suffered critical injuries last week, when a tractor rolled over him just before noon on Friday, August 12th.

Fifty-five-year-old Richard Glen Miles, of 740 Ford Hollow Road, was alert and talking when the Rescue Squad arrived at the scene on Friday, according to member Phillip Smith. “Mr. Miles stated that the tractor had rolled over with him on it and was back on all four wheels,” Smith said when contacted by telephone on Monday afternoon. “He was in pretty bad shape after the tractor crushed him and suffering a tremendous amount of pain due to his severe injuries. The Macon County EMS carried him to the Lafayette Municipal Airport where Vanderbilt Life Flight picked him up by helicopter and transported him to Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville.”

Those responding to the scene included the Macon County Emergency Medical Services, Macon County Rescue Squad and the Macon County Chronicle.

Mr. Miles remains in the trauma unit at Vanderbilt this week and spokesperson Ashley Culver, stated that he is in critical, but stable condition.
