Local Man Injured in Long Creek Wreck

Law enforcement and medical personnel arrived on the scene of a Long Creek Road single car accident around 2:00 p.m. Wednesday afternoon, August 17th, that injured a Lafayette man, sending him by air ambulance to Vanderbilt Medical Center, in Nashville.

Forty-eight-year-old Scott Dorris, of 958 Pointe Lane, was driving a westbound 2004 silver Mitsubishi, when he failed to negotiate a curve, according to the investigating officer, THP Trooper Tracy Donoho. He traveled off the south side of the roadway, flipping the vehicle, which came to final rest in the yard at 2021 Long Creek Road. It was first believed that the automobile had hit a tree, but when the wrecker picked it up, Trooper Donoho said he realized the tree hadn’t been struck.

The Macon County Emergency Medical Services transported Mr. Dorris to the Lafayette Municipal Airport where Air Evac was waiting, and he was transferred to the helicopter and air lifted for treatment at Vanderbilt.

First responders included the Macon County Sheriffs Department, Macon County EMS, Tennessee Highway Patrol, and Macon County Rescue Squad, with the Macon County Chronicle at the crash site and also the airport landing zone.
