Domestic Violence Call Leads Local Authorities to Meth Lab

Deputy Danny Gross and K-9 Officer Mark Bartley of the Macon County Sheriff’s Department responded to a domestic violence call at 8141 Old Highway 52, just two houses down from Westside Elementary School, on Monday afternoon, August 29th, that led to the discovery of a meth lab and the arrest of 34-year-old Kevin Borders.

According to Detective Bill Cothron, Officers Gross and Bartley began conducting field interviews after arriving on the scene, when they learned that Borders had been involved in a verbal altercation after leaving a parked camper located on his neighbor’s property.

Receiving permission from the property owner to search the camper, officers discovered components of a meth lab located on the counter.

Components used to manufacture methamphetamine were also observed inside Borders’ truck, along with a firearm.

Borders was arrested on charges of domestic violence, possession of drug paraphernalia, Drug-Free School Zone violation and intent to manufacture methamphetamine.
