Saturday Morning Fire Ravages Oak Knob Home

Fire ravaged a doublewide mobile home and most of its contents, at 1021 Oak Knob Road, on Saturday morning, October 29th.

The Lafayette Fire Department was called to a 10/72 working structure fire around 10:30 a.m. and thirteen firefighters arrived on the scene of the Tracy Daugherty home, where the residence was already involved.

Utilizing a tanker, engine and sports truck, six firefighters entered the 28x60 square foot residence and fought the fire from inside. The origin of the fire is believed to have been the living room, but the cause is still undetermined.

Assistant Chief Troy Brawner was in charge of the scene, and 8,800 gallons of water were used in the battle against the flames. Some china and dishes were salvageable.

First responders included the Lafayette Fire Department, Macon County EMS, Macon County Sheriffs Dept., and the Macon County Chronicle was also on the scene.
