Alleged Sexual Predator Flees LPD

Chief Ray Amalfitano, of the Lafayette Police Department, was notified around 9:30 p.m. Saturday night, November 12th that a Hispanic male, 43-year-old Victor Manual Miranda, had tried to sexually assault a female subject, who lived in the same household at 504 Days Road, inside the city limits.

According to the chief, the suspect was holding down an unidentified 25-year-old female and trying to take her clothes off, and in the process of fight him off, he exposed himself to a three-year-old child at the residence.

“The suspect ran off,” said Chief Amalfitano, “and Officer ReJena Parker and Sgt. Jeff Tucker responded to the location to investigate the situation and obtain all the information. At this point Detective Keith Tillman and I went from place to place to place searching for Victor Miranda, along with other officers.”

“He somehow managed to get back into the house during our search,” noted the Chief, “and a short struggle ensued after we made entry into the home. Detective Tillman arrested the suspect and transported him to the Macon County Jail where he was charged with sexual battery and two counts of indecent exposure. DCS was also called to assist in the investigation.”

Bond for Victor Miranda was set at $25,000 and a court date has been scheduled for December 7th.
