Fourth Annual West Macon Rescue Squad Fundraiser this Saturday

West Macon County Rescue Squad’s Chili Supper & Raffle promises to be bigger and better than ever before. Scheduled for Saturday, November 19th, starting at 5 p.m., the event will be at the Crossroad Community Center, located on the Rocky Mound Road, in the west sector of the county.

Established to maintain and protect the people of our county, West Macon Rescue was organized in August of 1993 at 29 Hawkins & Rocky Mound Road, in an old garage building with no running water and heat. Dedicated to meet the emergency needs of the people in that area, the county commissioners argued for the funds to purchase property and build a new facility. “Thankfully they were successful,” said 2nd Lt. Kimmy Warf, “and the new location will be across the street from 2970 Rocky Mound Road. The new facility will offer shelter for all our units, as well as equipment, along with classroom space.”

Committed to the preservation and protection of life and property from the effects of fire, medical or hazardous conditions through training education, this vibrant group want to make the changes necessary to respond to emergencies. They are committed to go above and beyond the call of duty, and this fundraiser will help pay for excessories at the new building.

The chili supper will cost $5.00 and that will include the door prize raffle, and you must be present to win door prizes. Riffle item tickets are available from any squad member and the cost for one ticket is $1.00, seven tickets for $5.00 and 15 tickets for $10.00. Raffle tickets are also available at the event until 7:00 p.m. You do not have to be present to win raffle items.

Everyone is welcome and you are cordially invited to come and enjoy good food, good music, good friends and good time.

“I want everyone to join us and meet the squad members,” Warf said, “and we appreciate all the support we can get.
