The flames were progressing rapidly when Lafayette firefighters arrived at the site of a garage fire, after the department was paged to Drury Ridge, just outside of the city limits on Thanksgiving night.

“The 30x60 one story metal building, which was owned by Michael Parker, was fully involved when we arrived at 47 Drury Ridge Road around 9:30 p.m.” said Assistant Chief Troy Brawner, who was in charge of the scene, “and the fire completely destroyed the structure along with several vehicles including a 1972 Dodge Dart Demon, 1984 S-10 truck, 1986 Mustang GT, 1984 Mustang, 1982 Dodge Pickup and a 2004 Honda 4-wheeler, with an estimated loss of $50,000.”

“There were 14 firefighters battling the blaze and we used over 6700 gallons of water to extinguish the fire, which we believed was caused by a wood stove. We remained the site for three hours returning to the station around midnight, and no injuries were reported.”

First responders included the Lafayette Fire Department, Macon County Sheriffs Department, Macon County Emergency Medical Services, and the Macon County Chronicle
