Two Macon County Juveniles Injured in 4-Wheeler Accident

Two Macon County juveniles were hospitalized with serious injuries following a 4-wheeler accident on Sunday morning, January 22nd.

The 10:55 a.m. wreck was investigated by Officer Henry Behr, of the Lafayette Police Department, who stated that the throttle possibly stuck open, causing the two young girls to lose control of the 4-wheeler and hit a telephone pole, across the street from the old American Greetings building. The driver had attempted to avoid the Highway 52 East traffic by turning onto Sewell Street from Oak Street. The girls were not wearing helmets.

The ambulance service carried one juvenile to University Medical Center, in Lebanon, for treatment, while Life Flight landed near the scene to transport the other wreck victim to Vanderbilt Hospital, in Nashville, Tennessee.

Officer Behr was assisted at the accident site by Officer Jeff Hix and Assistant Fire Chief Troy Brawner.

Other first responders were the Macon County Sheriffs Department, Lafayette Fire Department, and the Macon County Chronicle.
