Joseph LawsonA Red Boiling Springs man was arrested and charged with Criminal Homicide by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation on Sunday morning, April 15th, for allegedly killing a male individual Saturday afternoon, at his parents home in the southeast section of Macon County.

Sheriff Mark Gammons said his department received a call at 12:13 p.m. on Saturday, April 14, from Haydenburg Ridge Road stating someone had been shot, and they immediately proceeded to the residence. Upon arriving the Macon County Sheriffs Department began working the crime scene and detectives contacted the TBI when they realized 42-year-old Donald Anderson had been shot and killed by 21-year-old Joseph Morgan Lawson, both of Red Boiling Springs.

Joseph Lawson is accused of being armed with a rifle on Saturday while laying in wait for Anderson to arrive at Lawson’s parents home, at 569 Haydenburg Ridge Road.

According to the TBI, Lawson allegedly lured Anderson to the residence after learning of a relationship between Anderson and Lawson’s girlfriend.

Authorities also stated that before his death, Anderson told a THP Trooper on the scene that Joseph Lawson was the man who shot him. Fleeing the area after the gunfire, Lawson was located by law enforcement personnel after a short manhunt in rural Macon and Jackson Counties.

“This case is still under investigation,” said Sheriff Gammons, “and we are working closely with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and the Tennessee Highway Patrol.”
