“For many years, Tri-County Electric’s Annual Meeting was always in Lafayette,” said Executive Vice President & General Manager Paul Thompson. “In 1989 the annual meeting started rotating among our ten director districts as follows: Edmonton, Westmoreland, Tompkinsville, Celina, Burkesville, Red Boiling Springs, Scottsville, Hartsville, Fountain Run and Lafayette.”
“Gamaliel is part of Fountain Run’s district so we have the annual meeting those years at Gamaliel Elementary. We have had two annual meetings in the Celina district, 1992 and 2002 and both were held at the Hermitage Springs School,” noted Thompson. “So 2012 will be Tri-County Electric’s first ever annual meeting in Celina, and our next meeting in Celina won’t be until 2022.”
Tri-County has experienced consistent growth over the years, and their wholesale power is supplied by the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA). They currently have 17 substations and over 5,450 miles of distribution line, covering a service area of roughly 1,800 square miles, in all or part of the following counties: Allen, Cumberland, Metcalfe, Monroe, Adair, Barren, Clinton and Warren in Kentucky; and Macon, Clay, Trousdale, Sumner, Jackson, Overton and Smith in Tennessee. They are the fifth largest cooperative in Kentucky or Tennessee and provide a wide-range of services to the 50,600 members-owners.
“In my 11th year as manager,” said Thompson, “I am excited that one of our members will leave the annual meeting on Thursday night as the proud owner of a 2005 Chevy Silverado ½ ton 4x4 truck. We are also giving away a computer to one student and their school.”
Numerous door prizes will be given away during the event, along with free health screenings, free tee shirts for kids, free food & ice cream, air brushing for kids in attendance and a registration gift. Tri County will provide information on their products and services, and members will also be able to take bucket truck rides and observe the safety demonstrations.
The Tri-County Board of Directors include: Ronald D. Bailey, Tony Bentle, Bret Carver, George Cowan, Jeff Downing, Ray Goad, Veachel Harlan, Jack Osgatharp, Mike Miller, Tommy Thompson, Ken Witcher, and Paul Thompson.
“I would like to encourage everyone to come out Thursday night and help us celebrate another wonderful year at Tri-County Electric,” said Thompson, “in Celina, Tennessee. Few businesses have annual meetings like this one and every customer is invited, because they’re all members-owners, as are our employees and Board of Directors. That’s the way it’s been since Tri-County was founded in 1936!”
The business meeting will begin at 7:00 p.m. Employees, directors, and those living in their households will not be eligible for prizes.
